Things I've done

I find myself being enthusiastic about providing Intranet applications via the web. The thought that by improving the tools that users work with can make their life easier and more pleasurable gives great satisfaction.

Sites usually start with a sketch on paper, before transitioning to a mockup. Data flows are plotted, databases are designed and layouts are created in HTML/CSS

An outline of recent work I have done.

City Link Intranet

Working at City Link provided the opportunity to redesign the company intranet. This work included working in better navigation, search functions, personalisation and a more 'portal'-like homepage. I also worked on Sales applications, user management, RFID tag tracking, and wrote a lightweight CakePHP framework clone that would integrate with the existing intranet framework. Work

Mousevine.com redesign

The initial design for mousevine.com (below) was done on a tight schedule, with little specification. The idea was to get something usable out there, then fix issues with a version two release at a later stage. This iteration adds improvements in all areas including a new framework, OpenID support, better navigation and support for user-content to be added at a later date.

Mousevine.com

This site was designed as a side-project in my spare time for a client in San Fransisco. It is designed to be a quasi-blog, rounding up the best news from Disney fansites in one place.

Medical Jobs (working title)

This site was rapidly put together with one other person whilst working at RDL as an external job board for people in the pharmaceutical industry

Examples

This video shows a candidate logging into the site, and viewing their profile.

This video shows the toggling between a static list of featured jobs and an animated one (animated with Javascript).

This video is from an administration perspective. It shows the process adding a sales package to a company so they can place adverts, and also a wizard for registering a new company.

RDLadmin

RDLadmin was an already functioning candidate/CV search intranet tool used by recruitment agents at RDL. I worked with one other on improving the interface to slower sections of the site, and added in personalisations. I also designed a personalised homepage for the app called 'RDLtoday'.

Examples

This video shows the redesigned process of searching for a CV. It uses well known concepts like save/load dialogues, and uses AJAX extensively to provide a seemless user experience.

This video shows the portal, 'RDLtoday'. It has user feeds, user links, downloads, and the ability to customise both 'RDLtoday' and 'RDLadmin'
